Foonas is an openembedded-based distro targeting NAS-devices, especially devices with an internal disk. foonas aims to be a good replacement for vendor software - with better tuning, more flexibility and less unwanted features.

Foonas is divided up into three distributions:

  • foonas: General purpose Linux distribution for NAS devices
  • foonas-em: Replacement enhanced EM mode firmware
  • foonas-iscsi: Dedicated iSCSI firmware
