The cheapest TTL/RS232 converter uses a MAX232 with two serial channels for standard TTL 3V input. The cheapest TTL/USB converter uses a chip by FTDI (the same chip is used in the SCON-KIT )
This board is made by Futurelec, however the order is shipped from Thailand so it takes 2-3 weeks to get it. This cable is made by FTDI, but the pinout at the connector end would need to be reassigned. Spec Sheet w/ pinout, wire colors & other info :link
